Thailand’s sustainability journey is ramping up, with more policies and initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions slated to roll out in the coming years. These provide opportunities for SP Group to launch sustainability projects that drive Thailand towards its net-zero target by 2065.

Government Complex Center Zone C

SP Group and Banpu NEXT have formalised a joint venture (JV), BNSP Smart Tech (BNSP), to advance Thailand’s decarbonisation goals through the development and operation of a district cooling system at Government Complex Center Zone C in Bangkok. BNSP will be a key driver of SP’s first district cooling project in Thailand, utilising a suite of sustainable energy solutions that also includes an electric vehicle charging station.

With a cooling capacity of up to 14,000 refrigeration tonnes, the project will tap the combined expertise of SP and Banpu NEXT to help the complex achieve 20 per cent in energy savings and reduce carbon emissions by up to 3,000 tonnes annually.

Rangsit University

SP Group is partnering Rangsit University (RSU) in Greater Bangkok to deploy a suite of integrated and sustainable energy solutions that will transform its main campus into a smart, low-carbon space. Part of RSU’s sustainable commitment, the project will deploy solar photovoltaic systems managed by SP’s GET (Green Energy Tech) – a smart building intelligence system that maximises building energy efficiency and enhances occupant comfort.

The collaboration will see SP install a 2 megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system across nine buildings on the campus, as well as a floating solar PV system to boost Thailand’s green transition. To maximise solar energy access across campus, SP will also be installing an Energy Storage System (ESS) that enables on-demand supply of solar power. Through this project, RSU aims to stand out as a champion of sustainability among educational institutions in Thailand.

Malee Group

Thailand-Malee

SP Group and Malee Group have launched a partnership to bring solar energy to the Thai beverage manufacturer’s Nakhon Pathom factory. As part of the project, SP will install and operate a 1 Megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system comprising approximately 1,600 solar panels. The factory will be Malee’s first to tap solar power for its operations.

Able to generate 1,378 MWh of clean electricity per year, the solar PV system will provide around 15 per cent of the factory’s annual energy requirement and reduce carbon emissions by up to 700 tonnes each year.

Betagro

SP Group has partnered Thailand's leading integrated food company, Betagro, to launch a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project at seven Betagro factories across the country. SP will install close to 13,000 solar panels with a combined capacity of 8.2 Megawatt Peak (MWp) that will sustainably power Betagro’s operations and ensure cost efficiency.

The project will generate about 11 Gigawatt-Hours (GWh) of clean energy per year – equivalent to about eight per cent of the total electricity consumed across the seven factories. This will enable Betagro to reduce its carbon emissions by 4,400 tonnes and achieve substantial energy cost savings of about 17 million baht (S$630,500) annually.
