Staff volunteerism and giving reach new highs at SP Group, recognised with fourth consecutive Pinnacle Award

New programmes co-created with social service agencies deepen impact

SINGAPORE, 5 OCTOBER 2026 – SP Group (SP) has clinched the Pinnacle Award – the highest honour accorded by Community Chest – for the fourth consecutive year, as its staff volunteerism and community giving reached record levels.

In the past year, employee volunteer hours increased by 45 per cent and have more than tripled over the past five years. Many have managed this commitment, while juggling shift work and fulfilling their duties as essential services providers. In the same year, 40 per cent of employees stepped forward to support community causes. Staff donations to the SP Heartware Fund for seniors, children and youth programmes also doubled in the past year.

SP's overall contributions through donations and volunteerism totalled S$7 million, up from S$5.8 million the year before.

Building on its longstanding partnership with Community Chest, SP worked with social service agencies to co-create programmes and channel resources towards evolving community needs among lower-income communities. Among these efforts are programmes that help seniors prevent and reverse frailty through early intervention, as well as rehabilitation and prevention initiatives for youths at risk of online gaming addiction and social isolation.

SP’s volunteers, known as SP Heart Workers, organise and host a range of activities, from befriending seniors, to mentoring youths through sports and gaming sessions, conducting STEM workshops for children, and delivering essential items to lower-income families.

In addition to the Pinnacle Award, SP was presented four other awards – the Charity Platinum, Enabler, Volunteer Partner and SGSHARE Awards. Receiving the awards from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam was SP’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Stanley Huang.

Mr Huang said, “Working closely with Community Chest for more than two decades, we have journeyed with beneficiaries across the age spectrum. Through this partnership, we are increasingly attuned to the struggles of vulnerable communities so that we can support them in ways that meet their specific needs. As these needs evolve, it is important that our ways of giving evolve alongside them, as we work with social service agencies to develop new and relevant solutions for those who require them most.”

“We are also encouraged to see more employees responding to the volunteer and donation platforms we have established, making it convenient and seamless for them to contribute, be it through their time, skills or regular donations,” he added.

A key enabling platform of SP’s heightened staff giving was to place community outreach at the centre of the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations last year. SP supported 21,000 beneficiaries, through programmes that deliver practical support and meaningful outcomes:

  • Care Corner Singapore – SP spearheaded Care Corner's community-based Frailty Management Programme, helping seniors age well and maintain their independence. About 9 in 10 seniors who participated in the programme demonstrated stronger mobility and lower-body strength, gaining up to 34 per cent improvement in their physical assessment, helping them move more confidently and carry out everyday activities independently. SP contributed S$700,000 towards the programme, alongside Care Corner’s nutrition and enrichment programmes for children. To date, SP has donated S$1.4 million towards Care Corner’s initiatives.
  • Youth Guidance Outreach Services (YGOS) – Through support for YGOS' Cyber Outreach initiative and mobile youth engagement outpost powered by an electric vehicle, over 600 youths at risk including those facing social isolation and excessive online gaming have been reached through engagement activities and intervention programmes since 2023. SP's latest contribution of S$850,000 builds on its longstanding support for the initiative. Its previous donation of $750,000 in 2023 went towards the first-of-its-kind mobile youth engagement outpost with an electric vehicle.

The impact of these programmes is made possible through donations to the SP Heartware Fund, which was established with Community Chest in 2005. Over the past 21 years, the fund has raised close to S$40 million through contributions from SP, its employees, customers and business associates. SP underwrites all fundraising and operational costs, ensuring that every dollar donated goes directly to its partner social service agencies.
